New Feature: Thanks For That Post!

Every now and then you come across a great post that someone has made. Have you ever wanted thank them for that post? Well, I'm trying out a new feature for the site that allows you to do just that.

At the bottom of each post you will see a new button that looks like this:
If you click it your name will be added under that post thanking them for it. Another great feature is that when look at your profile (under the Statistics tab) you can see how many times you've been thanked for a post and also see how many posts you've thanked others for.Click on these links and you will see a list of all the posts you've tanked others for so in a way you have a bookmark of all the great posts you find.

This is a trial run to see how it goes but I'm hopeful it will be a good addition.

Any comments or questions? Feel free to ask in this thread.

Thanks

Yeah! Now get rid of the QR window since you have a "Shortcut" for it! Make it a "Pop Up" or the like, once selected.

And the "Multi Quote"? Explain how to use please.

Multi Quote enables you to pick a number of posts to reply to. It's like a check box. So, go down a list and pick three or four posts using the multi-quote button and then click on the "Post Reply" button below. It will have a copy of each post so you can reply to all of them in one post.

I like Deadhead Derek's idea for a "Troll Alarm" for the newbie "How Much Should I Charge For..." threads.

OH NO! We can now be ranked by the number of TY's we get. What's next, an "Idiot" button? I can see it now; we can't post unless our THANK YOU to IDIOT ratio is better than 6.54:1. Lurkers won't trust our posts unless we have a good ratio.

Now who will listen to me when I want to say nothing?

NATHAN

Here is a Question that just occurred to me.......

When doing a Search using the Keyword that happens to be a screen name, are the "Thank You's" going to show up in the search as well.

I would find that to be a bit cumbersome and cause there to be unwanted, unnecessary "Search Results".

Just a thought.

Re: New Feature: Thanks For That Post!

As a fairly new newbie, I don't really know the amount of effort it takes Nathan and the mods to keep this forum going. Many of you who have been here from the start surely understand it, but to me, it is so seemless. Just pop on, read stuff, maybe say something stupid, and sign off.

I take for granted the smileys and am taking the time to try and learn things like MQ's and imbedding photos. That in itself is daunting enough so I can only imagine the work that goes into pulling weeds and trimming the branches of this site.

While I certainly do know it takes work, there is no way I could know the hours these guys must put in so that I and my fellow CT'ers can hang out here to drink beer, tell lies, and brag.

You know, I don't think I personally know anyone here but in the short time I have butted in, I feel I have found a home away from work. Thank you Nathan, all the moderators, and the rest of the regulars who make it enjoyable to log on.
