New Construction Is Dead

New construction is dead. I read in the paper the other day in Bozeman, MT one house was being build in the entire area. I haven't seen any thing but maybe some remodeling jobs or new roofs from the hail storm we had a while back. How is it in your area and how do you plan on riding this out?

I'm in Southern California. It's pretty slow, I;ve had more people than usual coming to my site and asking for work, some of them with GC licenses.
It's weird because I see a lot of construction going on, but my phone isn't ringing and everyone seems to be on a job that got finalized last year. I guess that's it, everyone is just finishing what they started earlier in the year.
My employees (those that remain) are asking about getting work from the burned areas, but I think that may take a while. Seems like the houses either got totally burned or spared completely, so the bulk of that work will be new construction which will take a while to get squared away.

Riding it out? First savings get used up, then investments get sold, then credit cards get hit to the max, then I suppose I'll lock myself in my office with my 9 millimeter and do the right thing. Good thing I have high credit limits.

You got that right, but I try to avoid credit accounts so I will have to do myself in a bit before you.

I sorta sat on my butt , this last few months after my baby was born. We got off our ass and we found alot of work this month. We went from 2 man shop, to 6 in a matter of 2 weeks. My job board is full and I'm 90% sure i'm picking up 2 mid size jobs tomorrow.

Laughed out loud on that one. Debt, death, same thing in a way.
Good luck.
Like they say in the Airborne, keep your head down, your weapons clean, and the worm will turn.
