Re: New Biz Card
Not bad. A tetch too busy maybe (yes there is such a word).
Also, I'd put "building your dreams "For" a better tomorrow. Otherwise not bad |

Re: New Biz Card
Bob, if the images are seen first then you see the bobcat thingy that looks like a raccoon, a big dump truck and a house.
What do these 3 images create of picture of in your mind? I see raccoons getting into my house and Bob putting my house in a dump truck and driving away at a high rate of speed while throwing beer bottles out the windows. Ok, so the average person might not see it like I see it. Take 10 people and put it in front of them for 3 seconds and ask them what trade(s) you offer. How about a nice full color image from your web-site? |

Maybe a two sided one with a list on the back? I would focus on a single theme or maybe 2 themes for the front. Like "fine woodworking and installation of museum grade stripper poles". |

I think it's a little (a lot) too busy. Your eye doesn't know where to go first since every element is "screaming".
In my old life I was a graphic designer. If you email me a copy of your logo and contact info, I will layout a card for you to check out. I would post mine here, but am VERY VERY leary of putting anything like that in a public place. As it is, I'm suprised at how many people are able to track me down just based on my sig pic.

Re: New Biz Card
Bob,
I see you have a website. I don't see that listed on your business card. That's like Rule #1 for anyone who gets a website... make sure its on your business card! Otherwise, I hate to say it, but I agree with everyone here. However, in its current state, it gets the job done. But there is always room for improvement. Good Luck! |

Re: New Biz Card
Bob, with all due respect. You build houses. You probably do it well. Hire a graphic designer to do a card for you, its cheap and thats what they do.
Here is mine on Keith Bruce's site (I've since had it updated). He can do a one sided design for you for $85. I recommend a two sided so you can get all you wanted on it and that might be an extra twenty bucks. http://www.kbkgraphics.com/images2/Bizcards_08.htm |

Black helicopters follow me everywhere...
Seriously, I don't want potential or current customers reading posts where I bitch and moan online about the particular dilemma of the day. However, thanks to google, people find our threads on whatever the topic may be, read a post and track me down since I guess I "appear" to be knowledgable. I probably did $75k gross in 2006 based on people who found me somehow through CT.com. Go figure.

Glasshousebltr,
Since I joined I've been curious as to how you came up with your name. At first I thought you built glass houses. So what's the story? Please don't take offense but I am into how companies promote themselves and the strategies behind them. I learn that way. |

If memory serves, his last name is Glass, but I could be wrong.

Re: New Biz Card
In the 80s I built glass room additions for a few years. I think I've built about 5 or 6 hundred. Any how, I was hoping to get back into it however the demand isn't anything like it used to be. The name just kinda stuck like a peanut butter sandwich.

Re: New Biz Card
A local printer designed and printed my cards for $45, 1st 500. The second 500 cost $8 when combined with the first run.

Re: New Biz Card
Pedantic, I know, but that "dump truck" on your card looks like a haul truck for a rock quarry. Not even street legal.
