Re: New To This

Pick up the phone and start calling gcs, realtors, management companies. Keep calling until you don't have time to call anymore.

I made a phone call seven years ago to a management company. I've done 700k worth of work for them. I work for them pretty much every month.

Go to the nearest supply house and start shaking hands telling everyone how busy you are, when someone says ďtoo bad I could use some helpĒ get his name and number and buy him a beer.

Contact local churches or charities and offer to help at cut rates until you slowly work your way into a neighborhood.

Make friends with an insurance adjuster (give em $$)

Knock doors offering free estimates. (Hi Iím bob and I came from Oregon to help out, let me in)

Call the local big boys and ask to become a sub.

Hang out at Walmart or the bar or strip clubs and look for work trucks with local license plates.

Re: New To This

Iíve made a few phone calls this morning to real estate agents. Still no luck. And yes, Craigslist is awful. Had one lady call me, had me go look at a property to bid on. Then she accepts it only to call me back a few hours later to tell me never mind. That she got someone else. Very frustrating.

That's the business. Qualifying leads is a hard lesson to learn.

That is the nature of the business. Get used to it. Youll learn to appreciate people who do this because they are always PITA customers. If they are wishy washy about who they pick they are going to be wishy washy about what they want done.

In 2007 I put a ad on CL and got a bathroom remodel. I was the lowest bid by $50 and didnt make much money. It was my first job as a GC. Ive done lots of work for them since then. They are cheap and dont like my new prices though.
