Need Help Please Respond

i have to take out two garage doors and make one 16 foot abovethe door the header is two 2x8 three inches wide by 17 feet long with a center support in the middle of the two doors if i put two 2x12 three inches wide 16 feet glued and nailed together would this be enough or is 17 feet too much of a load it will be supporting the roof i live in minnesota it also has a 9/12 roof pitch so i am not worried about alot of snow on the roof any advice would be great
