Need Help Learning To Bid Commerically For Painting Jobs.

I have openned a painting business and have benn painting for over 10 years but have never been on the side where you bid I have always just painted and I am wanting to learn the going rate on commerical jobs and how to bid commerically. I am getting plenty of residental jobs so I know I am bidding correctly on them. Does anyone have any comments on how to bid on commerical jobs for painting or classes I can take the will teach me the going rate these days?

Find and buy the book from the PDCA called Estimating Guide Vol I & II.
Click here and scroll down until you see them. Pricey but worth the read.

Actually, getting "alot" of jobs is an indication that you are bidding lower than everyone else. The real question is, are you making money? I'm not talking about making a paycheck...I'm talking about covering your paycheck, your worker's comp, your general liability insurance, your fuel bill, your vehicle insurance, your health insurance, your accountant/bookkeeper, etc. etc. etc. AND STILL MAKING A PROFIT. If you're doing all that, then you're estimating correctly.

LOL!!! The employee, going on their own!! Small business classes... Really

Business 101.. The business has to make a profit first, before you get a wage. Most subcontractors make a big mistake, not seperating themselves from the business, in the profit intake. It takes money to make money. For your business to stay in business, you have to bank for those expenses the business needs to grow, and of coarse, that tax man.
