My Head Is Spinning....

I'm finally gonna get a cross-line laser.

50 ft should be fine.

I can't seem to figure out the difference between the Bosch GLL 50, and the GLL 3-15?

Is the 3-15 just the older version?

Re: My Head Is Spinning....

3-15 can do a 90 degree on floor and wall. 50 is just on wall.

Re: My Head Is Spinning....

So basically the line "folds" underneath the unit to project a line at a 90 degree angle?

Your head should be spinning Anything worth buying is more than you want to spend.. I'd recommend the Bosch GLL 3-80 or I use the PLS180 the most The GLL 3-80 will give you plumb points and the PLS180 won't. Now the pisser if you don't go green you will be cursing every time it's a bit bright. My next laser will be the PLS180 greenie If you get the Bosch GLL3-80 get the kit that has the magnetic micro adjuster with it and if you get the PLS180 get the kit with the laser catcher with it or you can't use it outside. I don't have a catcher for the GLL3-80 so it's an indoor laser only and the catcher cost about 100 bucks.

Re: My Head Is Spinning....

there is only a dot that's plumb so you lose the first few inches, but there out it's a 90.
Just got the GLL3-15X. It's great.

Re: My Head Is Spinning....

Further more the GLL3-80 is a 360 3 plane laser and the PLS is a 180 2 plane laser, vertical and horizontal.

Re: My Head Is Spinning....

I like PLS just on principle.

I have a rotary for outdoor use.

I'd love to get a green laser, but they are a little pricey. Maybe I'll just go for it anyway.

My typical scenario is framing a basement, where the floor might be a little out of level. Instead of running stringlines everywhere, I want to mount a laser on the wall at stud height, and measure that way.

This will be my second PSL 180 laser I like them. I don't use a tripod but I use the magnetic stand to stick to a lally column or door hinge or task Pole.

But it from Amazon and use it to see if it fits the bill.

Send it back if it doesn't.

They will send you a free return shipping label.

You have 30 days.

I've only returned a few things over the years and it's as easy as it gets...no hoops.

The green one will be 2nd PLS180 also.. Man I hate to say it but that GLL3-15X is too limited. I just looked it on you-tube. It sucks buying a laser to find out you need one that does more things and be lit me owning 4 lasers and I should have just spent more and got one that does all of that. Check them on the you-tube to get a feel for what they do.

Once you have the good laser you will find a lot more things it can be a good use for. I just used the PLS180 to find the low spot in the deck and set all the column collars at the same height, the picket rails will go on the collars.

I picked it up a few weeks ago to use up some end of the year cash. They were out of stock on the green one and at more than a $100 higher...... I decided I never felt at a loss for the red.

Re: My Head Is Spinning....

I own zero DeWalt products, but I see that they have a simple cross line laser that is accurate to 1/8" at 100'. That is FAR better than Bosch's 1/8" at 33'.

Is DeWalt still DIY stuff?

DW088K is the one I was looking at.

Randy, you could probably stock a small hardware store with all the tools you have.

I always know if I have a question about a tool, Dirty probably has one or three of them.

Ever thought about doing reviews or tutorials professionally?

Hmm...

Didn't know you could return stuff that was open and not defective.

Good idea though. If you can't hold it and look at it before you buy, you should be able to return it.

Yeah...as long as you don't damage/abuse it.

I bought the wrong printer cartridges not long ago. I opened both packages and tried to install them and that's when I realized they were wrong. It didn't make any difference. No questions...no problems.

You go back to your order...
Click on "return"
They give you a list of a whole bunch of reasons plus a place you can fill in your own
They immediately email a link to print out the free return label
Repackage it, put the label on and drop it off.

In some cases, I have gotten the credit as soon as the item has been picked up by UPS.

Re: My Head Is Spinning....

I like the plumb dots on the PLS4. I can set the laser on a bottom plate and plumb a wall by myself.

I used to have to put a wood clamp on the brace then go over to the wall with a bubble and push or pull, then hope the clamp holds it until I nail. Then go back and recheck it after I nail the brace.

https://www.tigersupplies.com/Produc...PLS60574-.aspx

From what I’ve read green is no better outside and red is fine inside. IOW, Going Green is a waste.
