My First Internet Lead.

I just received my first internet lead from my site. I'm really surprised because I just started building my site a few weeks ago. Anyhow, I'm stoked, so I thought I'd share the good news.

Re: My First Internet Lead.

I hope it works for you? Not trying to bring you down but....

My experience has been that internet leads are a total waste of time. Most have been people that are shopping the hell out of you. They are the ones who research things to death and have drawn all the wrong conclusions because they know nothing about construction.

That coupled with the fact that I will not work for peanuts

Of course I am in the remodelling business and it may differ in specialty trades.

Let us know how it worked for you?

Re: My First Internet Lead.

It really depends on what you do and how you maintain marketing yourself.

Since Friday I've booked 8 appointments just by email. But my appointments are usually a couple of hours each. I also spend a lot of time on regional home owner message boards answering questions to drum up new business

Are those appointments by e-mail through your web site?
I agree, it can be an effective tool if you structure yourself on sales.

I just have not liked the responses I have had.

Re: My First Internet Lead.

I get at least one lead a day from the internet.

My webpage is a POC, temporary page I threw together, and have not had time or desire to work on it.

The leads are genuine, as my webpage describes my services and what I can do for them. My certifications let them know, I am not going to be as cheap as "Joe6pack" wait... there is a user here with that name. No offense.

I very rarely ever talk to the HO before I see them on site. I've been doing it this way for years.

You just need to keep up the participation, keep your name in the game, and develop a good reputation. And don't forget to post links to your site and it will get picked up by Google.

What responses don't you like? You get a lot of crackpots?

Yes, It seems that the people I get are fruit cakes.
I don't target the general populace but I do get a call here and there.
Usually I slide them off, when I doubt myself and try for the Hell of it I regret it.
But,,,I am a referral based business and these people are probably googling?

As I said, It may be good for some

Checked out your site off the link and looks like a good starting page to go with. The auto slide show is a good idea and the photos are clear and sharp. Congrats on the first lead, let us know how it goes.

Re: My First Internet Lead.

Well I won't find anything out for certain until tomorrow. I seldom walk away from an estimate without an agreement...This one will be a simple repair, but I'm interested to know how my internet leads will turn out...My only marketing in the past has been via flyers and referrals.

Turns out that the lead was produced by Google Earth (Google Maps business search)....So perhaps that will turn out to be a great marketing tool too.

It's nice to hear that some of us are having some luck with this type of marketing, it shows that there is potential....

Thanks for the props Dave...The site is still under construction, hopefully it will only take a few more weeks to get it all put together.

Re: My First Internet Lead.

Shed, dig around for the free on-line contractor directories. Nathan has one on this site that ranks rather well with google. Make sure you link all of them to your site. I have some really good local directories that produce leads for my site......and a ton that are just good for the link.

Re: My First Internet Lead.

Thanks Doug, I've been submitting slowly to industry directories. I have also been submitting to geological directories in hopes of improving my rankings for local searches too. If it's not to much to ask, could you provide me with some of the directories that you use?

Re: My First Internet Lead.

I just finished this job...I did a small deck (180 S.F.) that was at ground level...It took about 12 hours overall, and after paying $100 to a laborer, I made $420 off of the job...So I guess the site has already paid for itself..

If you are agressively seeking customers off the internet or other sources. A higher volume with sales staff or the desire to sell.

I look at my web site as a tool to be found. Husband says "Hey do you have Copus phone number?" Wife says "Google it you Moron!" Husband whispers "Your such a bitch!"
Wife says "I heard that!" Result, No sex for a month. All because of the internet

Re: My First Internet Lead.

Thank you eagle, I still have a lot of work to do on the site. I've been working from sunup until sundown everyday this past week, and have several more jobs lined up, so getting to the website has been temporarily pushed to the back burner until I get some time off.

What is the address of your site?

Keep tweeking your site and beleive that the leads are good because the person has taken the time to email you, there is already some commitment there.
