Moving Compressor Around, Jack Options

Guys, the spot where my air compressor will be stored is a tight fit for my truck to get into. I can back into the driveway, but cannot make it through.

The unit Weights about 2300 lbs. 2-3 guys can move it easily. Only needs to be pushed 30 feet on a level blacktop surface.

Compressor is already on Single Axle trailer, I need a trailer jack for the front end. Most jacks i seen are 12-1500 LBS capacity, the type of jacks with a casters on them. Any products out there with great than 1500 lbs capacity? Or should i be ok with 1500 lbs jack since most of the weight is directly on the rear axle? I could possibly use the 1500lbs jack just to move it to the yard and used a fixed jack thats rated higher for long term storage.

What are my options?

Thanks
Rich

If your tongue weight is greater than 1500 pounds, you'd be all over the road trying to pull that sucker. I'm pretty sure (it's been a while) that a trailer tongue weight is never supposed to exceed 500 pounds or something like that. If you have a scrap recycler or truck stop nearby, they may have a scale where you could quickly weigh it yourself just to be sure.

Makes sense, pretty sure it isnt 1500 at the tongue, the 1500 lbs trailer jack should work.

tongue weight on my trailer is 2100 lbs.

You should be fine with a 1500# one from northerntool com Couldnt post link because i'm a newbie. I have used those on 12' trailers all the time even when the trailer would be loaded with 3,000 lbs of windows & doors. Most of the weight is on or near the axles so a small percent of it will even be tongue weight. The trick is to make sure the wheel is pointing in the correct position before moving the trailer by kicking the wheel. that way it doesnt put any force against the jack itself. If you want to go all out get two of them, 1 for each side of the trailer A frame. Just remember to lift the wheels up before you take off
