Most Random Thing
What's the most random thing everyone here has ever found in their nailbags (or bucket, box, or whatever you keep your tools in)? I find a lot of weird things in there, because I tend to use them for trash on small jobs (easier than sweeping up nails when you're just changing out some trim or whatever). And as an ashtray, to avoid leaving butts around a customer's property.
The thing that takes the cake, though, was when I was tearing down a ceiling fur-down, and a crescent wrench fell into my bags. I didn't notice it, but a coworker pointed it out, and we had a good laugh. I tend to think if it had hit my head, I'd be laughing less, and he'd be laughing more. A 10" pipe wrench also fell out of the ceiling that day; that would've hurt.

Re: Most Random Thing
I was up in an attic with deep blown-in insulation a few months ago and lost my 25 foot tape measure. I dug around for 10 mins but couldn't find it so I had to leave it up there. Whoever tears down the ceiling a long time from now will get a free tool.

Re: Most Random Thing
Years ago we did a job in a 1912 house we replaced a sitting room ceiling had to remove all plaster then wood lath, the ceiling was PACKED with blown in insulation when we took down the wood lath well down came the blown in, we where standing in three feet high of this stuff, 35-50 gallon garbage bags later, I found this piece of glass with some type of tape around the edges. I held it up to the light and it was a picture of a three winged plane with the U.S. Postal logo on the plane. I still have it along with things I have found doing repairs.
