I'm not sending in a bid, but if I did, it would be an honest straight forward bid if he isn't helping, and add a 100% PITA factor if he is.

Actually, I wouldn't automatically rule this guy out without a meet & greet--assuming your operation isn't too big to consider such a deal. He could well be quite experienced and capable; just in need of good help.

I have a retired customer who I first met when doing a full basement finish for him. Turned out that among other things, he spent ~12 years building decks for side work, and is a pretty accomplished cabinet maker. I've built two decks for him (one for his son) with him as my helper, and he's the best cut man I ever had.

You never know...

Re: More Craigs List Crazyness

I agree. He is looking for skilled help for a project too big to do alone. He is not looking for a contracting company, rather he is looking for a concrete finisher to assist him. Nothing wrong with that unless it turns out that he has neither his own tools or a clue, but you can't tell that from the ad.

I'm not familiar with Logan, but then I haven't had much to do with CS either. Good luck to him though.

Re: More Craigs List Crazyness

This guy would be great to work for, sign a contract to work under the table. Is that legal?

I am looking for a skilled and reliable handyman for multiple projects around my house. Skills must include finish carpentry, fencing, tile work and general labor. I am sick and tired of unreliable and flakey contractors/handymen. You will be expected to sign a work contract and stick to deadlines and finish dates. If this is a problem please do not apply. Must have clean background. Looking for someone that wants cash under the table for this side work, Im not interested in paying $200 an hour for a contracting company.

contact kyle:

Re: More Craigs List Crazyness

I need someone to work around my yard for a day. I have ten yards of gravel to shovel and wheelbarrow about 150'. That should take about 2 hours. After that, one of the wings on my house needs to be re-roofed. It is only about 20' x 30'. By the time that is done, it should be about perfect for you to prepare me a delicious lunch. After I eat my lunch, I would like you to pleasure me.

When I am done, back to work you go! I have four large fir trees that I would like taken down, and cut and chopped into fire wood. I have a hatchet for you to use to turn the branches into mulch. After that, you can go home.

I am sick and tired of people charging me too much, and doing too little. Minimum wage is $3.35, so I will pay you $35.00 for the day, assuming you get it all done. We will figure out what you owe me for anything that doesn't get done.

I need an experienced climber with gear to repel off of a roof and apply a bead of caulk to a window frame. The window is on the third floor and the roof is a flat.

1 hour pays $50.
