Mold On Drywall

Has anyone thought that the major mold problems we are seeing now are coming at a time when portions of the gypsum making up the interior of the board, come from larger portions of recyled drywall. I have watched at a plant I toured in the mid 90's a wheel loader proccessing old board. It is going to get organic material from mice to midgets caught up in it..that alone will give a base for mold to mingle.....forget about the paper.
And watching the posts on this board I am sure a taper or two have use a empty bucket for a potty then after dumping it, without intention mixed some mud in it.......now that is probable...

Re: Mold On Drywall

At one time they used the waste runs and piled them up out side to be placed in the mix at a point in time. The claim then was we recyle our waste to a certain percentage. Now you will read that their policies are that the reclylcing is for landscaping purposes and done under strick guidlines......
No better way to learn then to make a mistake or two..

The recycled gypsum is also used for 'lime', that is added to soil.

There was an article in a local paper up here about 3 years ago.
A guy (farmer) had been doing it on his farm on the side, and was going to start doing it full tilt because of the money he could make.
