Be Mature And Talk About It

There's been a few threads recently about built up stress, frustration etc...

I just got home from a two hour talk with the owner of my company. Without placing any blame I expressed some concerns. I asked what I could do to improved our system and the owner referred back to the days when he was in the same situation. He gladly gave me some tips about how he dealt with similar issues.

This is a great place to vent and ask about what you should do. Thanks Contractor Talk and the rest of you! However, talking about your concerns with those directly involved is the mature thing to do.

I think we can all agree that sharing information with each other makes us all more competant.

That's the right way to handle it, instead of just steaming about it and complaining to coworkers. You did good....

WNYcarpenter, I'm glad your boss was receptive. I just tried to do the same thing last week, and our V.P. basically blew me off. I don't understand how he can think everything is OK when 4 out of 13 eletricians are leaving, plus a helper. All I wanted was a chance to air my concerns, and a few suggestions.

I'd been stewing over a few issues before I walked into the "office". I think if I'd have been blown off I would've gone straight to the want adds. In my opinion anyone who cares enough about their occupation to seek out a trade forum to better themselves is a damn good employee or employer!

Exactly! Anyone who cares enough to seek out peers, reflect ideas and thoughts and ask advice should be considered an asset (alright Bob, take this and run with it!) to any company with which they belong.

I think forums like these are excellent for putting thoughts down and stewing over them before going off half-cocked into the office and ripping the boss a new one (as so many of us have wanted to do so many times)

There's always someone here who is having a better day than you are who can calm your ass down before you say/do something stupid.

If I get much more mature I'm going to need a walker.

Gotta schedule ANOTHER doc appt. next week. I'm thinking arthuritis.
