Material Increase Clause

I don't know if this is better here or in Business but I was wondering how you guys would word a material increase clause that might appear in the body of a proposal or estimate instead of in the fine print.

Some of my suppliers have forgone the standard 30 days since manufacturers are increasing prices to them on sometimes a weekly basis.

Re: Material Increase Clause

Do a forum search for 'escalation clause'. I know it was discussed before, but can't find it.

Found it. But do the search, I found a lot of threads on it.

Re: Material Increase Clause

Mine is worded something like if material prices vary by more than 10%, your price will vary. This works both ways, up and down. I list the materials such as "12/2 romex was $1.26 per foot at XYZ Supply as of bid date". I usually mark it up 20% before I add my normal markup and profit. That way I'm coverer if wire does go up the 10% I have to eat.
