Re: Lowering Prices

As a newb I second you post Dirt Diggler. I made the decision long ago that I wanted to own a business, not a job. Work on the business instead of in the business. That sort of thing. However, for me, I find myself working as a laborer more often these days because I had to cut cost and prices just to stay busy. Talking with a GC friend the other day who just lost a bid, he came in #2... lost by 3%, 3 million dollar project, anyway he was telling me that a lot of the guys around here are bidding small jobs at cost just to keep their crews busy. They do not want to lose emp they have years invested in. I think the 20 year ride of easy money is gone. It probably will not get better for trade contractors until the supply of trade contractors decreases. I know that is over generalizing and that each area is going to be different but you get the point.

My price $28,000.00. Lost it to a lower bidder.
I would be at $31,600 for that job NOT EVEN COUNTING the garage doors or the entry door

Re: Lowering Prices

Things are slow around here. My market is high end landscaping. Haven't sold a koi pond yet this season, or even had a call about one. Kinda sucks.
