Lowering Cathedral Ceiling- Demo Insulation?
Hi there everyone
I am going to put a new ceiling in a bathroom in CT- lowering it to normal height from a really high and steep sloped ceiling. Recessed lighting will move down into new ceiling. We figure we'll insulate the new ceiling to make it warmer save on heating costs. Is it advisable or necessary to remove all the old insulation, and all the high hats and wiring? Is it just ghetto to leave all this, or will there be any moisture or other issues-- for instance creating a space between two insulated layers...? Thanks for any advice Last edited by zmusashi; 03-08-2008 at 03:32 PM. Reason: spelling |

Re: Lowering Cathedral Ceiling- Demo Insulation?
The only issues I can think of would be to make sure NONE of the lights or wiring you leave above the new ceiling is hot. Anything that is needs to be accessible. The other would be ventilation for the space above the new ceiling, even if the roof and rafters were vented. I would want to vent the space as well.
Oh! and one other thing, please put your location in your profile
