Louisianna HACKS...

Not made as a blanket statement, and more than likely if you're on this site you care about bettering yourself, so you probably don't fall into this category. BUT. As of last night I will now be flying down to LA to brush up what the hacks did to my brother. Had minor Katrina damage to the house he bought after his other house was put underwater by her. Had the roof redone and I'm guessing the facia wasn't on it at the time because the shingles sit back even with the end of the plywood deck. This has been letting water in since the storm. He finally noticed his wood flooring bowing up off the floor in a corner downstairs which sent up a flag. He hired a painter to come and replace his rotted facia and they also sprayed bleach on the siding for whatever reason. Don't know anything about bleach being used for siding, but I do know that when the HO asks you to please cover the fish pond, it's not asking that much. Seems goldfish aren't so gold after your pond bubbles over from the bleach overspray and turns em into floaters. Who was it that wanted to be the superhero like Holmes on homes? Case and point. Bro got taken so we expedia'd a cheap ticket (450.00) for me to fly down friday, break the 5" exposure on the roof down to 4" on the bottom 4 courses to give him overhang, finish the facia job since the painter had a heart attack monday, and gut the interior walls on the S side of the house to get the water damage taken care of before it turns to mold. WTF??? They need a new sheriff in town. There won't be any money out of it, nor would I ask for it, but man does this piss me off. I would rather have gone down to see the family for a better reason and for a longer period. Maybe I can get a picture of me in front of the GA dome with a big bottle of water.
Edit
Sorry and thank you, I feel better now.
peace out

It's a damned shame you have to go and do all that for free and miss the oppurtunity for a good family visit.

Of course we all know that if they have been paid there is no recourse.

Make the best of it and hope you don't find more "mishaps"

I did hear that Albino goldfish are worth a few $$....Of course they have to be alive

It's almost comical as I sit at my desk I can look out my window and see my neighbor having work done on his house. He has a crew of Hispanics (which I will say are illegal because he no likey pay) painting his lattice. No prep just slap some primer on and top coat it?

This guy lives in a $440,000 home and won't pay to have things done properly?
He has asked me for prices in the past and always balked at what I quote. Now when he ask I just let it slide away......

When will we ever learn?

Oh he'll pay one way or the other. Doesn't wood rot from the inside out at an excellerated rate when it's painted on all sides on exterior? I remember picking up a painted picnic table and my fingers went right through it.
Should be able to make the most of it. My sister in-law, and family are native louisianan's and promised me a cajun can of edible whoop a$$ when I get down there. I do remember last years mardi gras feast. Can't get enough of crawfish boiled up with sausage, taters, onions and whatever else they had in the pot. aaaaaeeeeeey!

A+, I'd starve to death before I got all of that out!

For those of you that want to try this at home, it's Andouille sausage and if you can't take the heat be careful. Some can be very hot (mmmmm!) and they don't lable the packages like Italian sausage.

Re: Louisianna HACKS...

You got me JB. I meant LA.
I spent about a half hour looking at that pot of yours Copus. My wife is wondering why I frowned at her meatloaf. Sounds like you guys down there get to enjoy this treat all the time. Sheesh. Took me an hour to shake a woody off after seeing your picture. Just got done Next day airing the Impulses, and the zippoles down there since I found out that they would cause me a problem at the airport. Never would have thought of that but a friend of mine told me it would be worth the money, and I concurred. Hoping for the best and looking forward to the treats in store.

A woody over crawfish Your all right
we usually go to Galveston every June and do what is shown in the picture. I had that out to send the brother in law to make him feel bad for not going this year.
It seemed to fit in your case as well!
Love eating those crawfish and drinking a few beers to wash em down. Beats Maine lobster to me!!!

Re: Louisianna HACKS...

Got everything done up to a second coat of mud on the drywall thanks to the help of many friends, and many ladders, and other equipments to help out. BUT. I was glad to be back from the flood ridden LA just to get back to NoVa where they just got more rain than they've had in 130 years. Outter/inner loop of the beltway is shutdown for mudslide which starts the frenzy, and eisenhower ave. where I need to be to get to work, is covered an 1" or more thick in mud from the creek rising. Did I bring Katrina's spirit back with me? When does it end?

Brought Katrina back with you heh.
Better start looting, request your debit cards and go gambling, and most of all remember you are still a victim after 9 months.

Glad you made it through it all. May as well take the day off of work!!
