License Or No License, That Is The Question

Ok, here is my scenerio. I want to start my own business dealing strictly with vinyl installation on occupied and not new houses. I currently hold no license because in the past, i always workers under a licensed contractor but ready to branch off and do my own thing.

Before talking to my brother who is in Las Vegas, I assumed that I would not need any contractor license but when I talked to him, He said I would need a general license.

I live in Texas and when I did research as to how I go about getting a general license it says that general license is not required.

My question is does anybody in Texas or that knows the regulations in Texas out there know if I need a Contractors license when all I would be doing is vinyl siding?

Also, any other advice you may have would be appreciated as I am new to this self employment and appreciate any advice.

Call your local county offices. You may need a local license.
