Leads.com - aka: Renovation Experts

I dont how many of you use leads services. Normally I do not need this type of service however I signed up for it as I just moved back to Illinois from Florida and needed to get a start. I gave leads.com $300 up front for what I was told would be 10 quality leads but what I have got is a bunch of CRAP! I feel like I have been totally taken to the cleaners! I found them on Bob Villas website which led me to belive that I could trust the company but insted now know that I have been scammed.

To lay a little proof to what I say I have taken to date 8 leads out of my 11 and had to have 5 of them given back to me as the leads never answer there phone! I have gotten bitched out by 2 of them, went on 2 leads which one was in a ghetto and the other was not there after a 1 hour drive to their home!!! The topper to this is that one lead was a friend of mine from HS (20 years ago) and when I called the number just rang and rang. This was to be a kitchen remodel so I drove the 25 minutes to what was supposed to be her home only to find that the house was vacant and there was a for sale sign in the lawn! Today I called the number one more time after bitching out Leads.com and they answered the phone and said that she never asked for a person to do anything to their kitchen!!!!

I second your post - Bob Vila, Leads.com & Renovation Experts is a scam. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE - they will waste your time sending bogus leads time & time again. They know they are bad leads - they forces YOU the customer to call tham back everytime to tell them the lead was bad.

FELLOW CONTRACTORS = DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE - CANCEL YOUR CONTRACT NOW!

I third that post.

They promised me 10 leads per month for 299. Thought that sounded pretty good considering I am use to getting screwed by service magic. At least I can save on the Novocain in the Vaseline I needed for service magic. What they didn't tell me about the leads is I had to be sitting in front of my computer for 24 hours per day to get them, or that they were not going to be for services I offer or not in my service area. The first month I got 9 leads. Even though I got those leads I was only able to get in touch with 2. Which I didn't get because I actually charge a fee for my work. I tried to cancel the service after the first month they told me I couldn't because I signed up for three months. Funny I didn't sign anything. I called my bank to make sure they couldn't charge me another 299. I swear while I was on the line trying to cancel the service they must have had someone on the other line charging me another month. I actually had to cancel the credit card to get rid of them. The next month I got 5 lead out of the promised 10 with no results. When they tried to charge my card the third month they harassed me for non payment even after 3 or 4 emails and phone calls canceling my account. Just like service magic they are thieves.

As I know there are always new contractors signing up here who want to throw their two cents in (I am one of the newbies myself) I truly wish Nathan would put a disclaimer on the sign up page to do a search on threads BEFORE you start a redundant one. Either that or just a disclaimer that says

"IF you are joining contractortalk.com to bitch about lead services, save yours and our time. Every contractor worth their salt on this website will agree that leads services are crooks and they will trick you into spending big money. We are sorry to hear that you have been duped"

Lets not forget the added disclaimer about if your can't figure out what you should charge, please don't sign up as your not qualified - browse the threads as a guest to learn & try again in 6 months (assuming they are still in business)

Sorry for the hi-jack We now return you to your normally scheduled thread
