The Laundry Room Fad!

I took my continuing education for my license renewal the other day. The instructor of the class said decking out the laundry room is becoming a big fad for new construction homes Huh?? I don't build homes so maybe I'm out of the loop on this one But, I would never have thought the laundry room could be a selling point. So I guess it's official, women rule the world

Yes, AHS, laundry rooms are being decked out to the hilt. Built-ins such as pop-down iron boards and sewing-stations within the laundry room are a big hit with the "high-end" crowd. Add a plasma tv and a recliner, to boot, and who knows.....maybe it's a way to get you guys to learn how to wash and iron!

Here they're called utility rooms and often match the kitch. decor. Matching cabinetry, marble countertops, under-counter sink/s, fixtures, flooring are pretty common with the high-end set.

Just built a house with what you describe here. Just not sure if I like it on the main floor yet

Re: The Laundry Room Fad!

Couple of years ago in the parade of homes around here had washer and dryer hookups in the master bedroom closet... Now that is an EXCELLECT plan I know my wife wants it when we build our house. If all the bedrooms are on the upper level (2nd or 3rd) it just makes sense to have the laundry room on the floor were 99% of the laundry is. I think the best setup in a rancher house is W/D hookup in master closet on main floor. And extra bedrooms in basement with another W/D hookup there.
