This Ladder Rack Looks And Sounds Good

I posted a question regarding a ladder rack a while back. I received a catalog in the mail not too afterwards and found this rack inside http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...3971_200323971.
The reviews are great and the price is very good compared to some other racks I've seen.

been looking at ladder racks too and I really like this one.

It looks solid, wont rust, and it's got rachet tie downs built in.

I bought this one three years ago - I think it was around $350. The two pieces can be unbolted (two bolts per side per piece) from your truck bed and removed giving you headroom to stick tall things in your bed (not like supermodels or anything... more like refrigerators!)
1000 lb capacity and I've maxed it out many times hauling lumber. [[edit to add - maxed it out and it still works like a champ - not like maxed it out and it collapsed!]]

At least with this one you can hop up over the wheel well and not smack your head (until you've got a load on that you forgot about!)

For anyone with a van or sprinter these aluminum ones are great. Steel would be rusting out within a very short time here.

I am going to build my own simialr to yours but with supports from front to rear and lower than most racks. Reason being is sometimes i carry long lumber and the rack is alot easier to carry than to have the lumber hanging off the back of the bed. I also want to be able to load the rack with a lift truck. I had a similar rack on my last Dodge Dakota and i would just put a small order in to the lumber yard and tell them i was on my way, they would have the order put together on the forks of the lift truck and be waiting. I would just pull up and they would set the order on the racks, no loading by hand or driving all over the yard after the order. I hauled 15 sheets of 1/2" 4X8 drywall on it several times and up to 17 sheets of 7/16" sheathing at a time. It would take about 5 minutes to load and strap before hitting the road. It was a little top heavy though.
