Re: Ladder For Excavators?

At first, I thought that was one of those mobile pile driver attachments I see sometimes, then I saw the thing was climbing up it. I suppose that's some sort of operator's rodeo or manufacturer's exhibition. Probably overseas. Is that a Leibherr machine?

Somebody should email that poster from TractorShed to see where he got these pics from. There must be a story. Nothing on Snopes.

Re: Ladder For Excavators?

Due to the photo resolution it is hard to read a name on the brand of equipment. Perhaps someone more familiar with international equipment could supply some hints on the brand.

the guyed precast tower/structure sure looks German or European.

It sure looks like something that Leibherr might do for a short demo at the Bauma show (every 3 years) in Munich, Germany. They (Leibherr) built a display building for $2,000,000 for interior activities and use it once (10 days every 3 years). The only thing missing is the 50-100 tower cranes erected in the background behind the other 12 huge halls for other construction equipment. It covers all types of construction from heavy excavating equipment to cranes metal fabricating and plant equipment. The second time I was there, I only got through 6 buildings because I had to work.

It is a show that totally dwarfs antything in the U.S., with most companies making hotel reservations 2 or 3 years in advance. The really big boys have 200 to 500 employees invloved. Because there are so many people from around the world attending, equipment suppliers may help getting hotel resevarions, but no freee-bees beyond that except possibly a entrance pass. Don't expect to see your local sales rep there.

It is a great show and you can take several days to a week to see everything depending on your interest. If you like all types of construction, it is something that must been seen at least once. A totally deductablr business expense because of the credibility and long term of the show..

X2, i wouldnt even dream of doing something like that with my machine. Can you imagine the stress on the cables supporting the tower or even the hydrolic lines/seals?

I wonder if it had a fake counter weight, if not those must be some mean cables and that machine has impressive hydraulics.
