Re: Knockdown Ceilings?

You may want to try the paint section on this.

Are you referring to the stomp, where you apply with a brush and lightly trowel off the tips or Spray with a hopper and joint compound?
Spraying with the hopper requires playing with the mixture to find the desired spray pattern. Do not use your own compressor. Rent a unit made for this if you do not have one.

Re: Knockdown Ceilings?

A sledgehammer! Knockdown is easy once you get the hang of it. Mix some mud very thin, I like it a little thinner than bazooka mud, but not too thin it's better to have it a little thicker. Just spray it on to desired pattern. The trick is to start to wipe it down at just the right time, too early and it's a real mess, too late and you really don't get the knockdown effect. I like to use a 22" knockdown knife, it looks like a squeege. You can get them on allwall.com. If you use a real light touch you can start wiping it down early so that you can do larger areas. I use my own compressor all the time with the pressure turned down to about 60psi, and largest diameter hole on hopper. I hope this helps, and good luck.
