Kitchen Cost

I'm installing a kitchen and I am looking to figure what I should charge just in labor. They are buying all job related materials and I am providing the labor and tools. New sink, new cabinets upper and lower, new stove, disposal, countertops tiled with granite, tile floor and wall plus mudd the ceiling and move a light Is there a fair blanket price for the labor on a general remodel like this?

Do you have any measurements?....your description is pretty vague. Are you using a helper? Got a license?...insurance?..enough skill to do all these things well?

Re: Kitchen Cost

I usually take the square root of the square footage and multiply by the cost of a tank of gas.

220 sqft = $849

Re: Kitchen Cost

How good are you? How fast? How is the quality of your work? What are you worth an hour? What's your overhead? The answer would range from $25/hr to $100/hr. Figuring this job will take 5 days @25 and 3 @100, thats $1000 to $2400.

Just figure out what you're worth an hour. Simple

Re: Kitchen Cost

Just based on the limited info you gave, I think it sounds like about 4,000 worth of work. I charge about 1500 to 2000 to install average kitchen cabinets. Tiling the countertops sounds like at least 2 and 1/2 days work...probably 3 with sub tops, hardi, and grouting. Tiling the floor should be about 5-600 for a small kitchen (if you dont have to f with the substrate). plumbing work and appliance install is at least a full day. Moving the light and patching ceiling is worth a few hundred to me.

I usually base it on the volume of the room minus the windows and doors. I came up with $1212.00 plus gas of course, and one oil change.

Re: Kitchen Cost

So where do you guys get your labor estimates? You guys must be really slow. I figure cabinets 1.5 hrs, counter tops 1 hr, move light and patch ceiling .5 hrs, tile floor and grout 1 hour, install appliances and sink 1.5 hrs for a grand total of 5.5 hrs. You guys are really screwing with this guy who asked a fair question. A fair price for this work would be about $75.

You're a funny guy. I'll come and watch you install some kitchen cabinets. If you can even get them out of their cardboard boxes in 1.5 hours, I'll let you kiss my ass.

Re: Kitchen Cost

My supplier unboxes the cabinets and takes the cardboard away. If there is any damage, it shows up while the delivery guys are there.

Do the job first, then charge them what they're willing to pay.
