Smile Job Salvage, Good Stuff

So, over the years, what has been some of the good stuff your customer was throwing away that you took for your own house? my first house was built with great cabinets, windows, and doors that some of my clients felt got to old for them, very often brand new stuff. i also got a great old trunk that someone did not want about 25 years ago, and it is still with me today. and today i SCORED two stone LIONS FROM INDONESIA, THEY ARE AMAZING. i will post them soon

My father and I scored 400 square meters of hardwood flooring from an 120 year old golf club-house that we were demolishing. That was enough for the entire family home we built. We also used all the floor joists and salvaged a ton of lead from it too.

Oh, and on the job I just completed I scored a complete set up of galvanized scaffolding. The neighbor walked over and asked me if I thought I could use it. It came with feet, anchors, gang ways etc... Gotta love that!!!

I don't know if I'd say they're "valuable"- they look like cheap castings based on how they're cracking and spalling. Now, if they were carved from solid stone, you'd have something there. Not trying to bum you out over the find- they're definitely cool- I just wouldn't get your hopes up thinking that they're worth big bucks.

Still cool though. I scored another ton of fieldstone today from a job where we deleted a small wall. My stone collection is starting to worry the neighbors I'm sure.

bob, i am not even sure what i am looking at, they are not solid concrete that is spalling, they are about 400lbs each, and they appear to have a white plaster coating that is delaminating from the base casting, any ideas on the process that was used?

If you're ever in the mind to sell them off, post a price here. I can just picture the fun I'd have of mounting them on some pillars beside my drive way. Of course, I'd have to run it by the boss......maybe mount them on a pedestal leading to my workshop if nothing else.
