James Hardie Now Has House Wrap And Tape

I attended a James Hardie demo this morning. They were showing off their new house wrap and tape system. They also showed us a new line of premium siding - 5/8" thick...to look like traditional clear cedar.

They had their NW regional installer demonstrate proper wrapping, cutting and taping of a window RO. Then he set the window and showed how they recommend trim and siding installation to maintain their warranty.

He said that their product has very little movement...so any spacing should be from 0" to 1/8" gaps if any. Never caulk butt joints. Use min. 6" wide pieces of metal flashing behind each butt. And lots more.

It was a good presentation and FREE breakfast.

6" minimun metal flashing ? hmm could get expensive couldnt it, we usually just cut up the scraps of tyvek or tar paper and put that behind
