Re: Installation Under House

Okay, so for the smart asses out there... haha.. jk.

I meant I am installing insulation under the house... It's me and this other person installing it in the craw space. The guy is buying the materials, but wants me to put it in. My question was... how much should I charge, by the hour, to install the insulation?

Re: Installation Under House

The same as you would charge by the hour to take it out.
Cmon Dude, seriously. What do you normally charge for your sevices? Start there. If you really dont wanna do the work charge a little more. If you really want to charge a little less. This will probably be the most straightforward answer you will get.

Re: Installation Under House

Well.. first off, I am a girl, haha. Secondly, I am a landscaper and do not have much experience in insulation. The guy that I have been doing landscaping for said that I charge a good rate and that he wants me to do this project for him as well. But, I know how dangerous insulation can be and I don't know what I should charge to do a task like this....

I think you should charge the same rate as you have been, as that seems to be why you were asked to do this other work.

I would at this point figure you are charging an hourly or daily rate, if you vary from that, the customer may think you are trying to stick it to him, so to speak.

Of course you could charge a premium for getting horizontal in a crawl space.

Re: Installation Under House

Ask the other guy how much he's charging to go down there and then reduce it by half, cause girls should make less than men!

why would the HO ask the landscaper to install insulation? I'd punch him in the gut for thinking I'd do anything for money!

Tell the homeowner that you'd do it for double your regular rate plus he has to change the oil in your car and give it a good wash, these people with their money always tryin' to pull somethin'!

Hate to inject any ugly reality here,
but do either you, or the HO,
know how or why
this is going to happen?

Re: Installation Under House

Sounds like he's trying to get something for nothing. Charge more than your landscaping rate. It is a dirty job and you will have a learning curve there. Meaning it's gonna take longer than you thought. Charge high and let him negotiate to what you will do it for.

Still waiting for proof too !!!!!!!!!!

Re: Installation Under House

PGD, Don't be an ass. Girls can do just as much as guys can do.

Anyways... Thanks for all the replies. Since doing this task really is not what I signed up to do I will probably end up charging him double possibly. If he doesn't like it I guess he can go find someone else to do that mess..

Oh christ that was too funny!!

Some guys get real mad when she is supposed to come over and never shows up

AFlo- Installing any thing in a crawl space sucks major @$$, way harder than fluffing mulch.
