I Over Paid My Credit Card?

Get this

I made a payment of $10,000 on my credit card from "wells Fargo" the other day. 5 days later I go to charge on the card and it is declined. Knowing I just paid $10,000 of the $15,000 balance I was a litle cunfused.

So I call to find out what is going on and they tell me they put a hold on my card because I paid them more than I owed. I tell them that I paid $10,000 of the 15,000 I owed, therfore I did not pay over the balance owed, and why the hell should that matter anyway.

The lady tells me that I made three payments this month equaling $18,500 and that my monthly average balance was $7,000 therefore I had paid $11,500 more than I owed. WTF.

I told them that they had cashed my $10,000 check so they need to open back up my account. They said that they would open up my account if could prove to them they had cashed my check. Again I say WTF

Needless to say I am switching credit card companys

Thanks for little me blow of some steam.
Mark

Ask them to send you a check for the overpayment, THEN close it.

Re: I Over Paid My Credit Card?

Since your thread is about credit cards, look at all the google ads to the right and the bottom of this page about credit cards.

Generally I would suggest getting an Amex card but they need to get a referal program in place before I send them any more business. I pay my balance on the day that it is due from my checking account to their web-site. They never moan when I dispute charges and I have only lost one dispute out of over 10-15.
