I Hate My Company Name!

I dba as "Home Tech Services"......

It was from an old partnership I had and my buddy went a diferent direction so I kept the name.
My goals are develope a design build remodeling company and I think the word "services" plastered all over my truck and trailer are limiting my calls on the bigger jobs. I live and work in a very high end area near DFW airport. I kept the name because we had been at it for a couple of years. I have never liked it, just not the image I want to portray. The word "Home" limits me to residential and like I said "services" is pulling in a lot of "handyman" work, which I am glad to have and do as it pays well in my area but I really want to change the image of my company to something more generic and shorter.

Problem I'm running into is you guys already stole all the good names...

I guess this is just a rant although I would love to hear any thoughts on this matter or recomendation.
I am trying to set up an LLC. at the same time and get insurance I feel like I'm wasting time with all this but I just hate the name and have for five years.... It only cost me about $600.00 bucks to letter the trailer and both trucks, which I only did about a year ago. I don't mind changing them if I can find something I like beter....

My first choice was Master Craft construction, but its long gone.

Thought about shorting to HTS construction but it just does nothing for me, people are going to assume those are my initials. Not even close...lol

I know that www.designoutpost.com has a service whereby they help you select a business name. Lots of talent in that direction over there.

I see the 125 basic fee for logo but 2 4 6 weeks?
Does it usually take 6 weeks to get a logo/good name??

Change it, it's very easy to do. Contact your county since you are a DBA. Better yet contact your State and incorporate.

When you find a new name you like just operate under the two names with new cards for new name - best of both worlds then

I had the same problem. Started out as Small Jobs, LTD assuming that customers would understand that I meant small contracting jobs. Wrong! They thought 'handyman'. I then Inc.'d as Teetor & Teetor, Inc. Now I sound like a law firm.

An attn'y brought it around for me. The Inc'd co. stays as an umbrella co. and then you establish divisions such as Advanced Marine Systems, smalljobs, LTD., Exotic Cabinetry and Warehouse Window Fashions.

The down side to all of this is the need for sales tax #s and bank accounts for each division. Tax time can become a nightmare, I'm there now.

The hardest part is in putting a name together that will fit on a check. Robert and Ralph's Remodeling Service doesn't fit that criteria. Neither does Advanced Marine Systems.

I'd definitely recommend putting you occupation into your title althouth 'remodeling' is a big word. You could always lead in with 'REMODELING' by.............

Agreed on that,

'Home Tech Systems' sounds like you install home alarms or electronics.

Example: Because we do Commercial and Residential building, as well as home additions and various home improvements.....
We chose to incorporate the words: .... 'CONSTRUCTION SERVICES'..... in our company name.

Keep it short, easy to remember and it must be easy to spell. Like the delivery service G.O.D. Guaranteed Overnight Delivery. Not like Aubuchon hardware, everytime I go there to write a check, I look around to find the spelling....fear of having to ask someone.

Remodeling or Construction or General contracting at the end of which ever name (other than Alter_ego) I choose?

I like remodel work now but I also am an active real-estate investor and have several lots around that I plan to build on @ sometime, after changing the name for what will be the third time I don't want to do anything to limit myself.
