How's The Remodeling Buisness In Dallas/Ft. Worth TX Areas?

Is anyone doing work in North/northeast texas (Ft. Worth-Alliance-Dallas)? I'm thinking about relocating and starting my remodeling buisness there. I've been a licensed builder in Detroit, MI but things here SUCK! Can someone tell me whats happening out west!

Thanks

I know that you dont have to be licensed in D/FW to be a builder here. I think things are going pretty well as far as any type of construction goes. Its happening everywhere. If you head out here, please contact me. I do post construction cleaning in the D/FW area.

You are wrong, sir!

You do have to pay your money to the state!

The area, is very slow right now. If I were you I would choose a different area of the country.

I know the state gets their money, but I do know you dont have to be licensed. I have a friend who builds home and is not licensed. I also used to build gunite pools for years and never had to be licensed.

Yeah, basically you send your money to the state and you are free to build legally in the state.

The area is slow right now and I would not suggest anyone move to this area for work. The small home builders are trying to break into the remodeling market.

BTW- Can you send me a list of your services?

You might take a look at the Lawton/Ft.Sill area of Oklahoma....also the Woodward/Elk City area...things are moving right along.

What are the demograpics like there? What's better; commercial or residential remodeling construction. Do you have to be licensed to do work? What are the legal requirements for doing small to medium level work?

Thanks for your Help,

Oklahoma does not currently license contractors, except for the trades, electric, plumbing, hvac. The residential work is what is moving, commercial pays better, but it takes awhile to get established. The best thing you can do to have a look, is do an online search for newspapers and see what the adds tell you, then call the respective chambers of commerce...see what they say.
