Thumbs up Home Building In The South

Its' been a really bad 2007 here in central florida.. Most home builders in florida have slowed way down on building. Some trying to get a cheaper products out for this year,as in new models. Hardly any new home sales here, some builders sell a few. Mostly the high end custom homes are still strong. Lost count on foreclosers here, so damn many!!!

Also it's real hard to compete with the ILLEGALS here also. They do work for half the price or less, and they are taking over our work!! Some and I said SOME have moved to other places where they can hide and work. I still see a lot of them around working. Mostly on townhomes, commercial, residential, heck about every where you turn you see them.

I will be glad when there gone so we can get back on our feet. I been framing for 20 years and never seen it this bad. There are still company's working them. They need to step up the forces of the border patrol, oh and they are hiring!!! Might need a application!!

What is your opinion on ILLEGAL workers??

Personally, I'd get out of framing in FL. The Formosan termites are on the way and I doubt if the demand for framed homes will be going up. Considering potential rot, hurricaines and a multitude of other factors, I'd never buy one.

There is no rumble, because I am as anti-illegal as you can get. Break one law, you will break any. I just do not assume all Arabs are terrorists or that all Hispanics are illegal. All Aisans drive like they are stoned, however.

Our sheet rocker here told me this morning that his father and brother have a tiling business in Florida and have had to discount their work to stay busy because of the illegals. They're pretty much just squeaking by.

Here in central Texas, the pricing of labor is less than it was in the late 1980s, purely because of the illegals. I still can't tell which of the population is illegal by driving by a jobsite, though.

As unpopular as it is within the builders assocn.s. If we don't regulate ourselves, the gov't. will do it for us and everybody knows what that means.
