Hire the Home Owner

Started a kitchen demo this morning and when I arrived at the home the home owner had disconnected the sink plumbing, dishwasher, disposal, and was starting to remove the appliances. I politely ask him what he was doing and he said that he didn't think that we were suppose to do those jobs. I laughed and told him that all of that was in the contract for us to do but I told him to keep going and call me when he had all the walls down and new electrical installed. Sometimes you got to just love the home owners, bless their souls. The lady reminds me of Flo from Mel's dinner on that old show "Alice" ( I think that was the name of it) some of you younger folks might not know what that show was.

Yeah, but just wait until you get to a job so a simple service call and the HO says "well it didn't see to be working so I went ahead and took everything apart for you"....or the classic "my brother is an engineer and he tried to fix it"...

Wait until you give him the final bill and he wants his payment.

I contracted to have a tree (several) that fell on my house removed, but the sorry asses slept in, so I had everything smaller than 4" cut off and burned before they even got there, but I didn't ask for a reduction in the bill (They did do a little high up trimming for free though on their own initiative, I think the guy was embarrassed that I had done all the trimming).

I just needed to get it burned while there was a burn ban window.
