Here For Good...

At last, after so many months of form filling and waiting and sweating at the non air conditioned embassy in London...I've finally emigrated and moved to NE Ohio with the family.

Everythings in place pretty much...I have my Greencard. I have my SSN. I'm taking my driving test friday.

Glad to be here, enjoying the sunshine and doing nothing but wait for the government to say it's ok for me to pay taxes. It's been nice to not be working for the past 6 weeks, but I'm getting a bit stir crazy now. Want to get back to work as soon as I can.

It's good to be here.

Welcome to the U.S.! I think that you will find the people there most accommodating, I always did. Stay away from the cities!

Re: Here For Good...

Welcome to the States, and welcome to CT as well.
I grew up in England and left when I was a young man.
It was the weather - cold, wet, overcast; winters were bad too.
Seriously, there's a whole catalog (that's catalogue for us, right?) of English jokes you're going to hear. Just smile, and remember:
there's nothing funny about being from England.
They all wish they were from England.
Good luck in the U.S. you"ll do well here, I"m sure.
Good luck at CT, too that may be something else.

Re: Here For Good...

I remember my sister had a female partner in Atlanta from the UK.

The first hair stylist she visited greeted her with....

Hi....I'm Randy....How would you like your bangs
