Help! Need Advice On Starting A Biz

I NEED SOME PROFESSIONAL ADVICE ON STARTING A VENEER STONE MANUFACTORING COMPANY IN SOUTHERN MO., NORTHERN AR. MY INTEREST IN THIS BUSINESS STARTED WHEN MY HUSBAND AND I WERE BUILDING A HOUSE AND WANTED TO APPLY VENEER STONE TO THE FRONT. I CONTACTED A FEW RUBBERMOLD COMPANIES. THE COMPANIES DO SEMINARS BUT HAVE TO PURCHASE PRODUCT FIRST. I DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT, BUT I WANT TO MAKE SURE THIS IS THE RIGHT THING FOR ME AND MY PARTNER, BEFORE WE INVEST 7000+. ANY SUGGESTIONS??? THANKS FOR YOUR HELP AND HELPING ME START MY DREAM OF WORKING FOR MYSELF!

Your question is a rather broadstroke one. It might be easier if you tell us what you have researched and found thus far.

First stop yelling at everyone

Everything starts with a detailed plan. Seem like a big leap from looking for a product for your home too manugacturing it. you said there were suppliers already for the molds but no one is making the stones near you?. Do you have any knowledge of this type of manufacturing. seems like something you could order from a large company cheaper. That would be hard to under cut. Post a little more info and you get more advise. Good Luck

So, you built a house, thought the stone looked cool, and decided you could do it for a living?

Re: Help! Need Advice On Starting A Biz

I'd say the first question to ask yourself is

1) Why do you want to start a business?

I think alot of start ups get into the whole "I wanna be my own boss" thing. This IS a neat feeling that lasts all of about one week ... and reality sets in

i don't think there's any such thing as "being your own boss" --- if anything, you'll have more bosses (clients). And they're not as forgiving as a "boss" at work.

I could go on. I do love having a business. It's awesome - but nothing ever goes 100% right all the time. Sometimes the headaches don't seem worth it. I improve (financially) each year that I go ... thus it's still an investment worth pursuing. So I keep going ...

All that- and you must make money. You MUST be a producer, in some fashion.

I would also think if you truly meant manufacturing you better add at least one zero to your investment capital listed above.
