Re: Is It Harder

IMHO, a smart, hard working, motivated, self directed, eloquent, lazy, rude, difficult, confrontational, unmotivated, etc................................
person is just that. I don't assign these characteristics to gender, only to the individual.

If you got what it takes and it's a good fit you can stay, if not, well then ya gotta go quick. He-men and She-ra's alike.

So my answer, the right female is not harder to work with then the right male.

Re: Is It Harder

To me, it seems much harder working around a woman, or at least, harder more often.

WOOT WOOT!

For me I would have to say it wouldnt be that big of a deal as long as they're hard working and know what they're doing. Of course I would always feel like if I saw her trying to lift something heavy and struggling that I would have to go help. Where if it was a man struggling I would make fun of him and challenge his sexuality.

There are two types of women. Ones who claim to know nothing and ones who know way more than you will ever know. I grew up with 4 sisters. It seems most (not all) are one of these two personalities.

Re: Is It Harder

my best helper is a woman. now, she isn't strong enough to load/unload supplies as quick as some of the guys, but she is great for other things. if i leave her on her own with a task list, it is always done when i return. When its time to clean up, every tool is returned to its CORRECT place. When i tell her to clean up, the job becomes immaculate. She puts trash away as she accumulates it.

I wish i could get 2 more just like her.

Never had a 3 myself, done my share of 2s.

My second wife used to get mad if I didn't bring them home to share.

Re: Is It Harder

Two of our employees are women.
We hire based on who the best person for the job is.
As far doing heavy work, or lifting etc. it is not an issue.

I have done home remolding in Texas for 4 years. I must say I am just as good if not better than the men at the work. I now live in Florida and have my own home improvement and comstruction company. Things are good.

Re: Is It Harder

I remember the first time I had my roofing sub on a job with his new fling and at first I did'nt quite know how to act since I've grown accustomed to flipping crap towards the guys. VERY quickly is was evident she knew more and worked harder than the rest of the goomba's and had a great sense of humor to boot. From that moment on I had/still have much respect for her since she is a great/knowledgable worker and can take as much as she gives in the ribbing dept.

So long as whomever it is can carry their weight and perform on site I could care less of gender...just that they work hard and do a good job. Most women cannot carry super heavy loads but that is equally true for some men...it's just easier to make fun of the guys for being sissies....what are ya gonna say to the women?? Your weak like a lil school girl...oh wait..never mind you are a girl? now if they try to exploite that fact and try and get out of work based off this mind set...see ya and good luck on your next endevour.

Re: Is It Harder

I understand, I understand, I understand. I ulimately work for two women but the younger one seems to like my work. Daddy's girl, but I wish she'd quit using my good tool set.

I am not going to paint with a wide brush.
Working with saleswomen on the sales floor has had mixed results.
Same with Salesmen.

Re: Is It Harder

I love women.....bring 'em on! Seriously...in martial arts there was this one girl..wow...she was hot, and she'd knock the frickin tar outta most guys I know. I've also worked with some female painters whose work is so much more immaculate than most of the bums I've seen calling themselves painters. If a woman can handle the task, no reason she shouldn't be on the jobsite. I don't care about race, sex, color, or creed....I care about good, timely results and happy customers regardless who it is...
