Got Myself A Nuesd Trailer

I have been looking for a bigger trailer for a little while now.
I refuse to buy new, just dont have the need for new.

I ended up buying a Haulmark Thrifty Hauler from my Nieghbor, who owns a HVAC/plumbing company.

He is the orginal owner, the trailer has only left the county 2 times.

It is a 8'x20', not one scratch or dent. New tires and rims, old set were thrown in as well.
It is a bit older than I wanted, 1997.

I am fianally going to be able to set up a real mobile shop and stop having to shuffle tools.

I am looking into a Camper awning for it as well. Anyone have one on their trailer?

Over all, I am super stoked, only paid 2500 bucks fot it!!!

Time to tune up my other trailer and get her sold!!

Good luck with it!

The awning would be good for when it rains?

Yeah. I want it for rain, shade from the sun, and maybe even get the walls for it so I can put a heater in there for the winter.

Re: Got Myself A Nuesd Trailer

The mobile workshop is the dream, I bought a 8x24 thinking the same thing...guess what, you buy more stuff and fill it making it impossible to work in them.

I'll take pictures later and post them. If you are a one man show it may be possible, get employees and everything ends up everywhere for no rhyme nor reason and you organize it once a month and a week later it looks like hell again. But what I do like about cleaning it is you locate stuff, I am a concrete guy and light gauge steel framer...Why do I own 5 paint trays?

Anyways, nice buy

Man, that's a smoking deal, but a 20-footer? That's a big trailer. Don't plan on parallel parking that.

Re: Got Myself A Nuesd Trailer

Where do you put an 8x20 relative your actual work?

I cannot fathom walking back and forth to a mobile workshop all day just because it won't get close to where I'm working.

If I've had two jobs in my life where I could get a trailer within 15 feet of the work area, that would would be a lot.

Steep driveway? Forget it.
Short driveway? Forget it.
Narrow street? Forget it.
It rained in the last week so your truck AND trailer will get stuck after it sinks into HO's nice lawn? Forget it.

Please explain to me how you (or anyone with a "mobile workshop") operates doing a say, a bathroom remodel, on the second floor of a home where you can't get the trailer onto the property. Even if it fit in the driveway, you'd walk ALL THE WAY to trailer 85X a day to make cuts, etc.?

I'm not trying to rain on your parade, I just literally don't get it.

I have a 7x14 enclosed and a 6x10 dump and utility body one ton van. It is next to impossible to get all three, sometimes even one, remotely near where we are working . I find that HOs are not too keen on having me drive or park on their lawns.

Re: Got Myself A Nuesd Trailer

I really just want all my stuff to be in one place. I out grew my 14' trailer last year, I have been shuffling tools depending on the job.

I dont really want to make it so I have to go out to the trailer to make cuts but, it would be nice if it was raining/no garage/no space inside.
I would like the awning to stay out of the sun, and possible get sides for it so I can put a heater in there for the winter time.

I usually park on the street right in front of the house or back into the drive way. I dont have to deal with very many steep driveways around here. I try to stay out of the Craker box additions with the steep driveways.
I am going to have to unhook my truck now, compared to my 14'.

It will be nice to have all my tools in one place now, instead of off-loading some and then going back for more.

I wont drive in somone's yard unless I have to, or they dont care.

Working out in the country, it makes no difference really.
There is no way I could do a trailer this big if I lived in a big city.

I am kind of keen on the awning Idea.

Going to eat with the family, I will put some pictures up when I get back.

The autobody guys use a rotating eraser of sorts to take the letters off. Works great and quick. Leaves nothing behind.

I have seen those.

I have had good luck with a heat gun and goof-off.

I know you have a few heat guns Leo. Mine are mostly covered in old lead paint.

I have one of those. I was just shocked to see how fast and clean the eraser took off the lettering. Real clean, no heat or chemicals. Just trying to help a youngster out.

It left a big mess for me.

I tried the solvent-based adhesive remover for the left behind residue, came from the auto paint store but it made me sick and didn't work well. Then I tried Krud Kutter, it worked great and washes off w/water. If you have a Menards down there they carry it.

Nice trailer!

Just got my trailer lettered. They used spray 9 to clean it. Works great. I agree with the heat gun. That's an awesome trailer! Too big for me, but would really be nice.

My old 7'x14'?

I am not sure yet, I am replacing the tires and rims, and a few other things. It is still a good trailer.
