Re: Goodbye Sonny

One of the most helpful people I've ever run across. Genuinely wanted everyone in this business to do better, and always willing to explain how he did it, including his mistakes.

I think we all get the idea of what happened...but without a membership on the other site, you can't view the post that is linked in the OP here. If someone could copy n paste that would be nice.

I've read a lot of his stuff...he seemed really, genuinely interested in everyone doing well personally and also in the industry as a whole being raised to new levels.

R.I.P. Sonny

Re: Goodbye Sonny

Sonny was very big on the idea of clearly explaining to his customers exactly what they could expect when they hired him for handyman work. He used the same technique in his remodeling business before. He wrote up a summary to present to each prospect. He called it "the process".

He was also a crusader for branding ourselves and selling that brand. From his keyboard I learned about changing the specs so that it was impossible for anyone to have a competing bid. These and many other ideas he shared freely while trying to improve the lot of all contractors he came in contact with by every means.

Best wishes to his family, many thanks to Sonny.

Good Luck
Dave

Re: Goodbye Sonny

So Sad.

My goal for a vacation trip down to Disney, which is put off till next spring, was for me and my wife and kid to go out of our way to visit the man I have learned so much from.

No one is really gone from this Earth, as long as there are those that keep them in their memories. Sonny will live for many years to come, in our hearts.

As long as we have his posts here and on JLC, etc. he'll keep on teaching and mentoring. I like to think he'd like that.

RIP and thanks, Sonny. We can never repay you.

Time waits for no one. The dead are dead. Those who are left learn and grow from the legacy that remains. If not. The time on Earth was wasted. Move forward.
