Re: Glorified Shed Jacking
You said your self that he is the only house mover for miles, so why does it matter if we think his price is in-line? You are stuck with hime no matter what, so pass the cost onto the customer and get it done right. You don't want to jack it yourself (takes 20 guys w/bottle jacks if you don't have the proper equipment) and you don't have insurance to cover the structure or injury.

Re: Glorified Shed Jacking
I could rent the pump and slave jacks,
buy scrap steel I-beams and cribbing, hire extra hands, and come out way higher than 4 G's.

Re: Glorified Shed Jacking
Option 1: Jack and fix;
Option 2 : Demolish, or bang out the roof, the wall, post, section by section, etc.. and HO can re-built with some remnants/salvage left?. Ask HO which option is CHEAPER for him? If he said he DID it before, CAN he now do it again & SAVE some dough$!!??

Re: Glorified Shed Jacking
Because he is right.
If you read what YOU posted and THINK about it, you answered your own question. If you don't want to do it, and you want the job, you have no choice but to add his cost to your bid and submit. In the end it doesn't matter what we think. You are stuck with what you have. |

I called around to companies in the bigger cities here in NC. Talked some good people in Raleigh and Charlotte just a little while ago. The one guy in Raleigh actually used to live in my area back in NY. They all said the price was a little high because he wasn't moving the structure. Ususally $3500 to get it up 4'. I wont cry about $500. Thanks |

Re: Glorified Shed Jacking
First off, nobody is bashing you. Lighten up and stop reading into things more than what is there.
Jhark in fact gave you the best answer here. Better than Neo (no offense meant Neo) And in the end you found out that what you already knew was still true. You are either going to do it yourself or hire this guy. Wait, you wanted a non BS answer so here it is....... WE DON"T KNOW IF THE PRICE IS GOOD OR NOT FOR YOUR AREA Dude, you need thicker skin. |

Re: Glorified Shed Jacking
Around here the power company likes their meters within 18" of the nearest corner by the service drop. I would not have bought the Ford Powerstroke diesel if I knew that oil changes were gonna cost $100. And on the subject of Chaz Bono, if she wants to be a man, it doesn't bother me. It's funny how people say pitch controls airspeed and power controls altitude, if you get below the glideslope, do you add power? I wonder why Balloon Boy is suddenly out of the news? McDonald's french fries are probably the best.

Re: Glorified Shed Jacking
I wish the original post was still there. It appears that someone wants to move a storage shed? And they are asking about price. I am not sure what the real question is but I had 10 houses moved at the same time in the same area and I know a little about what the work entailed. It needs to be done someone who knows what they are doing.
In regards to price, since I cannot tell how much it was, it may be something that could cost more than you could ever imagine.

$4,000.00 Was the price being discussed,....Jack straight up,....Contractor installs his foundation, then dropped back down. 24' x 24' building. If I am wrong, I am sure I will be corrected.
