Re: GIVEAWAY: Pacific Laser Systems PLS 180 Cross Line Laser

I used my crappy laser to line out a retaining wall this summer.
Borrowed a nice unit from a buddy last week to install a heater in a garage. Made it easy and accurate to locate where the vent hole had to go through the roof.
If I had a better one, I would probably use it more often.

Re: GIVEAWAY: Pacific Laser Systems PLS 180 Cross Line Laser

I would use it almost daily. It would help ease the process of setting grout formwork level and plumb, and plumbing up column and wall forms. I'd also use it when I have framing jobs

Not sure how often I'd use it but definitely for tile work and take a whack at using it to set trusses. A buddy swears by them for setting/plumbing trusses. The green laser should make it even better.

I would use this on almost every job, shimming ceilings level, checking floors for high/low spots before setting cabinets, plumbing door jambs, wall layout in basements, tile work....
The most often use would probably be for checking floors for high/low spots.

Re: GIVEAWAY: Pacific Laser Systems PLS 180 Cross Line Laser

Daily!

We use a couple of lasers to align and straighten our big framing assemblies.

One's an old rotary that's big and heavy. We really only need a line generator, and a square reference, so something like this would be great!

I would use it once a week for sure! I have a cheaper, blue one now, and it is going bad on me. I use it for cabinets, drop ceilings, and drywall start plumb on a larger wall. Great tool to have in the truck!!!

Probably use our bosch once a week or so, mostly for framing and installing the occasional triple wall chimney.

Re: GIVEAWAY: Pacific Laser Systems PLS 180 Cross Line Laser

There are many times I Fur down exterior ceilings that have stucco, in order to install a 1x6 t&g pine ceiling. Because stucco is so uneven a laser makes quick work of getting the fur strips dialed in for a level and flat finished product. Very handy indeed!

For example.

Re: GIVEAWAY: Pacific Laser Systems PLS 180 Cross Line Laser

The laser is one of the indispensable tools my arsenal. We use it for tile, cabinets, setting doors, framing, setting electric boxes, aligning lights. It comes out almost every day for something
Ive never worked with the green laser, always thought it would be great to have a little better visibility at distance, but I haven't made the purchase yet

Re: GIVEAWAY: Pacific Laser Systems PLS 180 Cross Line Laser

As an exterior siding contractor, I would use this almost daily shooting control lines on all types of siding jobs. We currently use a Dewalt rotary laser with a tripod setup. It's about 8 years old and starting to show it's age and I don't feel it's as accurate as in past years. We have a multi bldg project starting after the 1st of the year and was considering upgrading so the timing would be ideal.

A well built laser that can be used outside would be a constant fixture, especially on larger siding duplex and triplex buildings where we regularly have lengths of 100-150'.

Mainly for tile and drop ceilings. Haven't been doing too much of either lately, but that can change overnight.

Re: GIVEAWAY: Pacific Laser Systems PLS 180 Cross Line Laser

I have a PLS 180 I'm looking to update since it's going on about 10 years old.
I use this laser to plumb door jambs once in awhile, set windows where alignment is crucial, set cabinets, ceilings etc.....

A great place I found using this for is working and attics and sloped ceilings doing knee walls and setting ceilings. No other tool can identify what your dealing with faster. Same with basements and low spots in the floor.
