Fuel Transfer Tanks

What do you use and what are your regs in your area . It seems to really be different from one area to the next and we got yelled at by a Mass Dot cop last week for not flying a placard on a 90 gallon L-tank in a F-250 . We are reged in NH with that truck and comply with all state regs . Dot officer took down our DOT #'s and said next time we'll be put out of service .

Re: Fuel Transfer Tanks

Were you carrying gas or diesel in the tank?

Not sure what the laws are in those states, but here we just have to comply with federal regulations.

Link to easy to understand federal regulations for gas and diesel transport.

Re: Fuel Transfer Tanks

I would have asked him how many folks towing campers has he busted? How does he know that tank isnt your main tank? Maybe we should all have a placard on our vehicles since we are all moving flamable liquids? I can see the requirement of a placard if you hauling more that 200 gallons or so but i have even seen tanks that large in truck beds that were pulling campers.
