Floor Grinder And Sub Floor

hey do you guys think, a floor grinder or floor maintainer (the buffer) would take out mortar after the tile has been chipped up?

i know the floor maintainer with the stones i used to smoothed concrete floors, just not to sure if it will destroy the wood sub floor

A floor buffer will not remove the thinset.

What type of flooring is going back down?

Don't worry about getting all of the old thinset up, get the high spots off, make sure all of the loose thinset is up, get all of the dust up, seal it with latex bonding agent and use multi purpose thinset with a 1/2" notch trowel and make sure you are getting good contact.

Re: Floor Grinder And Sub Floor

well i dont know what the last guys used, but it was hell to remove, ill see the next job how it goes, its about 60-80 sqft of removal im est. 8 hrs to clean of pretty good

oh another job i did, was on concrete and the thinset was like breaking concrete and i was using a chipper gun, the hand tile remove wont even budge that. i hope i dont come across alot of removal like this..........i want to go to all the mastic homes
