Flip This Dump I was just watching flip this house and the owner of the house was saying "why pay an electrican 50-60 dollars and hour! When you get just get a book and read it for 10mins and know how to do it." It makes me laugh when people act like remodeling trades are so easy anyone can do it, just read a book for 10mins. I guess its just more future work for us when things start crapping out.

Re: Flip This Dump
how ignorant ... can't even believe I am responding
I will say though, I think some things like HGTV can be good at getting the HOs going in deciding on home improvement projects |

Re: Flip This Dump
That show is for crack heads that watch people make a mess out of a house that had hope. "The Jones did it so we can do it". Sub-standard work that will fail all to make a quick dollar...makes me sick.

Re: Flip This Dump
Yeah, those same people who read books to rewire the house often end up calling an electrician in the end. Then, it takes us so long to sort out their mess, the bill is higher than if they'd have just called in the first place. Whatever. Pay me now or pay me later.

Re: Flip This Dump
There ain't nothin to it, the white wire goes to the silver post and the black one goes to the brass one. Simple! You can also just stick them into the holes in the back.

Re: Flip This Dump
The 1size 12 wires don't like to fit in the back, you have to grind them down with a beltsander or widen the hole with a 1/8" drill bit. If you drill the hole too big the damn wires fall out. The thing about what wire going to what post doesn't matter much, so long as you keep em all the same you can make up for the oversite by reversing them at the breaker. How bad can it be if you mess up, either the breaker trips or the house burns down.
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO FLIP THE HOUSE BEFORE IT BURNS DOWN! In MA, a homeowner can pull a permit to rewire their house and risk fire or death. However they can not pull a permit for plumbing. |
