Finding Work

I posted this question the other day and got some different responses. The question was "I'am new to a town and need to find work. Not being a licensed contractor I like to work with licensed people so I can learn more, obey the law, and someday get my own company". How do I get hooked up with these people and see if they are hiring......cold calling them seems like it would be a bit intrusive.......Any help would be appreciated

Re: Finding Work

First you tell the guys here where you from, then when those expert guys living near you come into this thread, just say hello, introduce your self, tell about your skills, and ask them nicely if they want to hire you as their apprentices, or helpers, or workers,... for any pay they desire to hire you based on your interview with them later. Re: Finding Work

Sounds like a plan. I will introduce myself in the appropriate section. New 2 the site thanks for the help......IF checking this I reside in the Ocean City Maryland area and have experience in many aspects of general contracting.

Re: Finding Work

I get cold calls and have even hired a few over the years, Can't say I mind this type of solicitation as compared to all the telemarketers who call. Another idea would be to print up a flyer , not a full resume, just your qualifications and stuff you don't mind the whole world knowing and stick it on windshields at real lumberyards( I'd skip home depot and lowes ) I've always respected a real go getter who goes out and finds a job as oposed to someone sitting on thier couch or barstool and complaining Phil
