Finding Contractors
I use "The Blue Book" for locating contractors. Are there other resources out there which are similar? At the moment I'm looking for contractors with a large work force that do work in the Southern New Jersey area. Any ideas?
Thanks, JWhite |

Re: Finding Contractors
Depends on what type of contractors you're looking for- residential or commericial, union or open shop- but The Bluebook is generally a pretty good place to start. If you use a blueprinter that has an online bid management program (like NAPCO), they have a database of contractors that you can solicit for bids as well.
What type of contractors are you looking for, and for what type of project? We've got projects in AC, Lakewood, and Trenton, and I might be able to point you toward some people. Bob |

Re: Finding Contractors
Bob,
The project we have is a condo community. Which from a construction stand point, I guess falls somewhere between residential and commercial, would you say? We are the CM on the job and are looking for subs and G.C.'s with enough of a work force to handle the job and be well bonded. I'm new at this so I'm on a sharp learning curve. Any suggestions or advice is appreciated. Thanks |

Re: Finding Contractors
It's 4-stories above grade made of light gauge metal with Hambro and 1 level of underground parking (concrete). There are 8 buildings total. The project is in Egg Harbor Twshp.

Re: Finding Contractors
For the structural frame, talk to American Panel Tec in South Plainfield, or you can try Hackensack Steel (in Hackensack). Hackensack has been doing a Hambro-type system of load-bearing stud and joists for a few years now that works like Hambro but without the hassle of having to strip plywood forms (they use ripple deck).
I'm assuming you're doing this open shop? |
