Feedback On Materials Marketplace Website?
We're releasing a new web application for contractors to request multiple bids on construction supplies, and would LOVE some feedback from the pros.
Here's the just of the concept (don't want to post a link & get in trouble): ----------------- Building professionals can request multiple bids (reverse auction style) on their supplies / materials through Mobuilder.com (it's free), enabling them to get hard to find items &secure the best prices on materials. The system allows contractors to request quotes from suppliers in over sixty categories. They can specify material details like quantity, specifications, set their bid deadline, and even upload plans/documents. The bid requests are then sent to participating suppliers in real time for their reply. Contractors/Builders then can select the supplier quote that best fits in terms of specs./price/delivery, etc. ------------- Thanks so, so much in advance & mods - please let me know if there's anything out of line with this post.

Good idea, but how are you going to keep the suppliers prices current? I'm not sure I'd trust it to be honest.

Re: Feedback On Materials Marketplace Website?
We greatly appreciate the feedback. Keep in mind that the subscribing suppliers submit their prices to the contractors. No prices are posted on the website - the contractors only see the pricing when they receive their bid responses. Mobuilder is designed to increase suppliers exposure by allowing them to bid on jobs through the system. It also provides a way for contractors to procure materials that might be harder to find by allowing them to post their requests.

Re: Feedback On Materials Marketplace Website?
I am excited to see a web-based application that shows me pricing for various suppliers without me having to drive around or have meetings with a sales rep that wears white socks with dress shoes and slacks.
I expect Mobuilder to make my bids more competitive, keep me up to date with material costs, and perhaps introduce me to new products that I am not familiar with. I may name my first child Mo Builder. |

Sounds very promising. Do you inclode commercial supplies like doors and frames? How about plumbing fixtures or I-beams?
