Elk Shingles Discontinued

Does anyone know when GAF and ELK merged and they stopped selling ELK laminated shingles? Where ELK shingles sold at Hone Depot?

Re: Elk Shingles Discontinued

Elk shingles are not exactly discontinued. They are still produced under the GAF name. They are produced out of the Texas location. We had a GAF warranty repair this year. The shingles we used were manufactured in Texas. The back side of the shingle had a "Manufactured by ELK" stamped on it.

After further consulting with a friend of mine who is a GAF rep he told me that the ELK line is now the Timerline HD and the really heavy shingle GAF produces. I don't remember the name of the shingle but it is a dual sided shingle, like it has a starter strip laminated to the underside of it. It was a damn nice shingle and it had ELK labeled on the back of it.

This is the best of my knowledge. If you can find that heavy duty shingle. You've found ELK.
