Economy

i am so f-in sick of the economy talk. the economy this, the economy that. i feel like once the "economy" talk became mainstream, it has become this "nugget" in everyones mind for blame to be placed on. but how come the lines at best buy are just as long as they used to be. i feel like this slow economy bull is based on a public preception that is actually a misconception. if this nugget as i called it could be removed from the general public, they would realize that this is the time to make a freakin butt load of money. prices of homes are at an all time minimum and anyone with half a brain would be scoopin them up to twist off at a profit.
im just fed up with this whole psycological plague. i believe that the problem hear in the us is a preception of a problem, not a problem. there it is and let the fireworks flow. oh and my tiger maple coffee table is almost done...

Re: Economy

Communist Chineese realize what time it is. They're organizing tours of the "boom states" so that "investors" can snap up foreclosed homes.

Re: Economy

"it's the Economy stupid" -- Is the line that skull head dude on CNN coined, I forgot his name... I wish I could forget his face instead!

Anyway, for some (a few million) it is the economy that has dried up, if you haven't noticed it... you should count your blessings!

Re: Economy

You guys talk about the Economy as being bad, well try living in Michigan we have seen it for the past 8 years, and every year it gets worst, the rest of the Country is just feeling it when the people of Michigan have been dealing with it for years, you either sink or swim. I have seen more contractors high tail it out of this state and move to another state that is now slowing down This economy is going to take years before we see a turn around. so you have to adjust, so are you adjusting yet

Re: Economy

the bad economy isn't an automatic damper on making money, but it's not some imaginary concept either.
I know I have lost some big money (for my little operation anyhow) jobs that I used to think I was going to get.
case in point.
had some big renovation work lined up but with the stock market tanking, they don't want to spend any money they don't really "have" to-as their assets have shrunk. Alot of people or companies are like that.
So you have to adjust or fail.
I'm finishing an insurance job (small fire restoration- fires don't care what the economy is doing) and I've bought a foreclosure house cheap that needs a lot of work that I'll either sell when the housing picks back up or keep it as another rental.

you find ways to make some money, or you find another line of work.

Re: Economy

and a lot of this people brought upon themselves. buying more house than they knew they could afford. agreeing to insane mortgages etc.

I know some of you in high priced real estate areas don't understand people like me in "boring old ohio", but I just sit there stunned when i see what are considered "normal" prices for real estate in calif, or the east coast, or places like that.
I kept thinking "how in the hell do all these people afford $3,4, 500,000+ houses that seem to be the norm". I guess were finding out that they don't in many cases. it was all a house of cards.

If you are so sick of economy talk then why did you post a new thread talking about the economy?

Re: Economy

You wont get fire works from me . I think in oct every one got scared and slowed spending . Now the government is scaring the s--t out of every one . They don't want to fix the banks it so much easier to ram new laws and policies down our throats when no one is even giving them a read before they are signed . The government /banks are making it impossible to do business . When the business owners go under the government / banks will foreclose on there homes & properties . This is like steeling . The recession is real now and getting worse. The commercial properties around the country will start to go under in the next few months (bail out x 2 ) The hole thing is caused by the government . Is all BS back in oct thing were slowing down but most people could still pay for there homes . In debt free and have always been a saver . (Its my 4 recession). I could hang out for years with out work but who wants to . The taxes on my home are 16000 a year and the depression lasted 10 years . We the people are starting to get pissed and WE wont take it much longer .

Re: Economy

What gets me pissed is the stupid priorities of some people. I went on a service call about 5 weeks ago to a regular customers house. Ended up they needed a new toilet in their 1/2 bath. I gave them a price and they said they would have to wait because money was tight right now. Well money must not have been too tight, because I saw the guy last week and he told me I needed to come and see his new big screen tv he just got. WTF? And there is the couple that lives a block from me that has needed a roof for 2 years now. The shingles are so old that have become brittle and are falling off. They bought a brand new F-150 and a NICE used car for their 16 y.o. son! WTF?
