Re: Do You Have Health Insurance?

Good luck man. Contracting or any self employed business is not the same business it was in previous generations. Its a shame this is what built this country.

Re: Do You Have Health Insurance?

GOVERNMENT jobs are GOLD DYNAMYTE these days!!!..

Government NEVER go bankrupt, their budget$$ NEVER EMPTY, FREE $$ earnings from taxes, stress-free, recession-proof,and GUARANTEED pensions, benefits, 13 holidays, paid vacations, paid sick leaves, 70/30 Health insurance plans (yes, Uncle SAM pays 70% for your family), and more perks, etc.

Way of the future... the only problem is.. 100 people apply, only 5 positions/openings (and only INSIDERS got it)!!.. Damn..

p.s, Military jobs are different because they are temporary, have risks, dangers, travels. I'm only taking about the CIVIL service for Federal Govt. in the states.

Just finished a small addition where the customer said she was always self employed till last year where she got a job with the county court house. Her biggest complaint was shes not used to doing nothing that some days they do almost nothing. Shes 47 and needed some better security.

Re: Do You Have Health Insurance?

For years I thought what a waste. We were paying health insurance premiums and never seeing a doctor. I began to think we would be better off throwing that money into the bank and just pay as we go with medical needs. My thinking was very narrow however, as I was only considering routine dr. visits, and maybe one of the kids would break a leg or something serious but not life threatening. Then, in 2004, my then 17 year old daughter became ill with a very rare disease. She spent 2 1/2 months in the hospital, and the next six months in physical therapy. $1.2 million dollars later I was very pleased that I had paid my $600/mo premium, and only paid my $1500 deductable.

I offer a tiered group plan. I pay 100% for management staff and thier families and 50% for installer staff and thier families.

I am 46 and my monthly premium is about 1000. My super is a little younger and his is about 900. Those are for family plans.

For just employee it would be about half

Re: Do You Have Health Insurance?

I offer medical, dental, eye & AD&D on the health side of insurance. I pay $9,300.00/month for our 86 employees. I have a 30/70 arrangement(I pay 30%). Our average age according to the insurance company is 38, though I think its closer to 35 but what do I know.

The total bill for every employee is a little over $30,000.00/month. Its an HMO with a $1,200.00/deductible. Co-pays are $20.00,$30.00 & $50.00

I tell you what though having benefits to offer to your employees is HUGE. I pay a portion because thats what I decided to do, however just having it to offer even without paying a portion means alot to guy with a family.

Many of my employees have come to me and said they are so grateful to have the benefits for themselves/families. It's suprising how many companies do not offer it. Only 4 of the payrolled employees opt-ed not to have insurance.

They are a PITA to work with though, I can't stand it!!!! I am hiring a full time HR director in June & I cannot WAIT to delegate those headaches to her.
