The dirty word . TAXES
I will post this here . Tax season once again is here . I have a whole list of stuff t do for year end . Is it better to do the norm and let someone else do it ? I am small company with allot of stuff.
Any extra stuff I can claim would be appeciated.

Let a surgeon remove your gall bladder.
Let a paperhanger install your wallcovering.
Let an accountant do your taxes.

Amen.
I have two accountants because that's how dumb I am with book keeping and accounting in general.
One helps me with the day to day book keeping. The other basically audits what I have a the end of the year to make sure there are no mistakes and everything is legit.

alot of it depends on how much money you've made. doing you're taxes isn't brain surgery. i think it pays to stumble your way through it for a year or two to help put you in the mindset of an accountant which will save you money in the long run. good luck!

Everybody has a job. A bookkeeper gets all of your ducks in a row for the accountant who takes care of all of your deductions, taxes, etc.

Persoanlly never had any intrest in doing my own, too much at stake if you screw up. I have/do ALOT of paperwork even though I'm a smaller company and have been through 3 CPA's until I found the one I use now and have recommended to all my other biz buddies with excellent feedback.
I do all the hard work of getting everything itemized and organized and she just takes my info, and does what she does. my first accounatant was a former IRS employee and come to find out he thought he knew more than he actually did.
Best advice if your unhappy/unsure about the one you've been using, eat the inital fee to have them done but dont let them file and take the same paperwork to another and see how they work it. I've literally seen guys going from paying in $3K to getting back $3K with the same paperwork. I'm lucky as my gal owns her own scraping biz and her entire family owns construction type businesses so she's been in the know for years and constantly looking for ways to save.
Accountants are no different than our trades or any other, there are those that know ALOT more than the "average" flunky and it's your job to seek them out since it's your cash they're playing with.

Put it this way, my first year I did my own. The second year I hired an accountant. The accountant rechecked my previous years return and had to file an amendment for the year I did it. With this amendment she was able to get back double of what I got back. So, I was happy and embarrassed at the same time. Then I popped a Viagra and forgot about it.

Really it's checks and balances. The more eyes on a problem, the more possible solutions... and there are no re-occuring charges since accountant A, who does my daily stuff, would charge me to do the return. Account B does the return instead of A, and audits what A did for me. If Acountant A is stealing from me or messing up some how, account B will catch it.

My wife does our payroll, monthly and quarterly taxes. She gets it all together and our CPA does the year end. The CPA charges too much for the service but is on retainer so the wife can call all year with questions....This was good the first year or two but now she has my wife trained so it is easy for the CPA to sit back and wait to plug the numbers in.........
But......having someone elses signature on a return is "priceless".
We went through a Texas work force commission audit. The CPA called, met and took care of it all with me just dropping the papers off to her...
That alone made it worth while...I should add we paid extra for the audit!
Now if we could eliminate the I.R.S. and every other half assed government agency we could all sleep at night and provide a better living for our families

Wow! An accountant/hooker If mine wasn't so old I'd ask her if she provided the same service? I knew I was getting ripped off!!

Trust me, she gets paid for both services very well. Being hung like a wild field mouse is not good when asking for a discount.
