Directory Update: Add Your Own City

We are working on fixing and/or improving a few features with the directory.

The first fixes are in. You should not be able to add your own city if it's not listed.

Let me know if you have any problems with adding a city. More fixes are coming soon.

Sorry, I'm trying to figure out how to clarify this.

We have two directories. One is for people selling products and services to contractors (so they are advertising to you) and that directory has a free and a paid listing.

However the contractors directory is TOTALLY FREE.

Another question, will I show up when someone searches in RI or will I need to create another listing with a RI zip code and town?

People can search by category or miles from zip code so you should be set.

Google is already indexing the directory and seems to be ranking it well so if you get a listing make sure you add all the correct data, photos, and so on. If customers search for your company name they are likely to find this listing probably just below your own website.

Nevermind. I figured it out: http://www.google.com/search?q=fhi+windows

So, you now control the top three listings in Google for your name instead of just the top two

google search "fhi windows". The screen print still looks poor, your site is #3. Somehow you got ahead of the other 150+ sites with my name on them.

The nice thing is that people who don't have a website can now get listed in Google for their name and they can set up a nice little profile for themselves. Sort of like a mini webpage.

Example: http://www.google.com/search?q=yarmouth+painting

That company doesn't have a webpage so in the past if someone drove by a yard sign and then googled their name there was no info about them, or at least nothing nice to look at.

I hope everyone takes advantage of this.
